2024 Hackathon Judging General Guidelines

  • All judges must be approved by hackathon organizers
  • Judges are NOT permitted into the hackathon area where teams are working
  • Please arrive by 1:45 PM and stay through the award ceremony starting at 5:00 PM

  • A scoring rubric has been created and will be reviewed with all judges prior to entry presentations

2024 Hackathon Judges Priorities

The following criteria will be used to score all hackathon entries. This structured approach ensures all entries are viewed as equal and promotes multiple award opportunities. The scoring rubric helps align all judges thinking through qualitative and quantitative analysis.

User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX)

  • Does the application meet the usability needs of user stakeholders? 

 

Innovation in Skill Set

  • Does the application use a novel approach or perspective, specific to the use of technical, analytical, or visual skills?

 

Teamwork

  • Is there evidence of a collaborative effort between and among team members?

 

Presentation

  • How effective is the communication (audio, visual) and presentation of the application?

Value / Impact

  • Does the application show evidence of the potential to impact the community?

 

2024 Hackathon Awards

Awards for highest overall score, runner up plus top entry scores for Issue, Problem, Solution and Value will be presented. Recognition awards for all judges and mentors will also be provided.
