This talk covers principles of user-centered design and product development. Understanding the consumer should always be at the core of product development and this idea is only heightened in the midst of a global pandemic. By creating user journey maps and conducting user surveys, Lovingly was able to react on the fly and create specific features that helped both shoppers and local florists alike. We focused on the important questions that were coming from our consumers, such as "are you open?" and "is it safe to send flowers?" Listening to consumers helped Lovingly drive technology and products decisions, resulting in a better overall experience. In addition, the enhanced consumer experience allowed local florists to increase revenue and thrive, while other local businesses were impacted due to the economic effects of Covid-19. Attendees will takeaway learnings on how to leverage user journey maps and conduct UX surveys to enhance product development decisions and features.
